Offer description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, providing acute, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.1 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million through regional and national services. With a workforce of around 39,000 staff, NHSGGC plays a vital role in improving health outcomes across the region.

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and organised Business Support Assistant to join our Corporate Planning Team. This role provides comprehensive administrative and business support to senior members of the planning team and supports a wide range of Board-wide programmes and operational priorities. The post holder will work flexibly within agreed procedures, contributing to the effective functioning of the Corporate Planning function and supporting colleagues across Acute Services, Health and Social Care Partnerships and specialist directorates.

The successful candidate will provide day-to-day administrative support including managing enquiries, arranging and supporting meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes, drafting correspondence and reports, collating information for returns, and maintaining accurate records and SharePoint systems. The role also supports the administration of key programmes such as the Transforming Together portfolio, Winter Plan and Annual Delivery Plan development, and includes responsibility for coordinating events, workshops and co-design sessions, including system-wide hackathons. You will also manage the departmental planner and support the cadence of reporting across the team.

You will work closely with senior managers, clinical and non-clinical staff, and external partners, communicating confidently via email, MS Teams, telephone and face to face. The role requires a high degree of accuracy, discretion and organisational skill, with the ability to prioritise workload in a busy environment where interruptions and competing demands are common.

Applicants should have a recognised qualification in Administration, equivalent to an HNC in Secretarial Studies or Business Administration, SVQ Level 3 in Administration, or relevant equivalent experience. You should have prior experience working in an administrative or secretarial role, be confident using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint, and have experience of organising meetings, minute taking and managing documentation. A very good command of written and verbal English is essential, along with a positive, flexible and professional approach to work.

This is a full-time post of 37 hours per week, worked Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is committed to supporting staff development, and the successful candidate will have access to ongoing training, learning opportunities and a personal development plan.
