Clean Water Process Engineer – Principal to Associate Director
Join WSP’s Water Engineering teams in Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, London, Newcastle or Glasgow as an experienced Clean Water Process Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce process design deliverables such as optioneering studies, process calculations, mass balance, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation drawings, sketches, basis of design reports.
* Undertake outline or detailed process engineering design.
* Attend site visits for data acquisition and meeting site operators.
* Provide technical input to procurement process.
* Support Project Managers in technical discussions with clients.
* Liaise with technology providers and vendors.
* Attend HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, SWIFT.
* Provide technical guidance, coaching and supervision of junior staff.
* Collaborate with other disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring integration of process engineering requirements.
* Contribute to proposals, work scope, schedules and budgets.
* Maintain liaison with clients to ensure their needs are met.
Qualifications
* A Chemical or Environmental Engineering degree or MSc.
* Professional registration as CEng (or working towards chartership within 12 months).
Skills and Experience
* Significant experience delivering process engineering design on infrastructure projects, including leading the process engineering role.
* Experience in the municipal water industry.
* Ability to work unsupervised in preparing/reviewing process design package deliverables.
* Experience in optioneering studies and feasibility, concept or detail design for municipal clean water treatment solutions including clarification, DAF, rapid gravity filtration, disinfection, taste & odour/pesticides removal and chemical dosing.
* Experience as a Process Engineer in a consultancy, engineering company or relevant industry.
* Exceptional time management, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
* Proven ability to produce high quality written technical reports and deliver verbal presentations.
* Strong communication skills, able to engage senior colleagues, clients and sub-contractors.
* Experience leading multi-disciplinary meetings and acting as the technical representative with external clients.
* Accurate and flexible integration with other disciplines, managing own team to tight programme and budget constraints.
* Travel to operational works and construction sites as required.
