We are seeking an experienced FM Category Manager to join a reputable organisation within the transportation/ logistics sector. You will have experience in both hard FM and Soft FM.

Description

As a Category Manager, you will lead category strategy and sourcing activity across Facilities Management (Hard & Soft FM) and Engineering Services portfolio. You'll partner closely with Engineering, Operations, and site‑based stakeholders to understand business needs, challenge existing practice, and design long‑term category solutions that deliver measurable value.

You will develop multi‑year category plans, consolidate fragmented supplier bases, and drive improvements in service delivery, cost efficiency, sustainability, and risk management across a diverse asset base. This role offers significant opportunity to shape the future of FM/Engineering procurement across a group‑wide estate with meaningful commercial impact.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute multi‑year category strategies aligned to corporate goals.
Build deep insight into current supplier arrangements, identifying opportunities to consolidate, optimise and innovate.
Lead strategic sourcing, contract renewals, negotiations and value‑driven commercial activity across your category.
Partner with Engineering, Operations and site leadership teams to drive group‑wide consistency and best practice.
Build and manage strong supplier relationships, ensuring performance, compliance, risk management and continuous improvement.
Support leaders with commercial insight to mitigate operational and supplier risks.
Introduce structured governance, contract visibility and supplier performance management across multiple locations.

Profile

A successful FM Category Manager should have:

You must have experience in Procurement Category Management experience across FM ( Both Hard & Soft) with a Deep understanding of external market dynamics in either Facilities Management or Engineering Services. Responsibility spans Hard FM (HVAC, fire alarms, civils, infrastructure, building management, electrical/lighting, asset maintenance) and Soft FM (security, catering, pest control).
Strong analytical capability with the ability to challenge requirements and build insight from data.
Experience delivering sustainability initiatives within procurement categories.
Knowledge of cost modelling and identifying continuous improvement opportunities.
Proven stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, especially with engineering‑focused teams and OPEX owners.
Strong supplier relationship management expertise.
Skilled negotiator with experience in complex service delivery environments.
Track record of developing and delivering category plans and commercial strategies.
Experience within a regulated procurement environment is helpful but not essential.
Ideally CIPS qualified (or working towards).Job Offer
