Communications Officer – 12-Month FTC
Location: Hybrid – 2 days per week in central London office
Are you a talented communicator with a flair for storytelling and a passion for supporting professional communities? We’re working with a leading membership organisation to recruit a Communications Officer for a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled writer – ideally someone with experience in a membership organisation and an understanding of communications for legal professionals. A background in journalism or media relations would be highly valued.
About the role
You’ll join a busy and collaborative communications team that delivers proactive and responsive campaigns, media engagement, and member communications.
Key responsibilities include:
* Crafting engaging content across press releases, blogs, newsletters, reports, web pages, and social media.
* Building strong relationships with journalists, stakeholders, and members to enhance the organisation’s profile.
* Monitoring the news agenda and providing timely briefings to colleagues and spokespeople.
* Supporting events, webinars, and campaigns that champion members and their work.
* Helping manage media enquiries, databases, and social media metrics.
About you
You’ll be an exceptional writer who can translate complex information into clear, concise, and compelling messages. You’ll also bring:
* Experience in media, communications, or journalism – ideally within a membership or professional body.
* Strong relationship-building skills and confidence in engaging with stakeholders and the press.
* Solid organisational skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities.
* A proactive, collaborative, and detail-focused approach.
