We are excited to welcome applications from those eager to join our team of Veterinary Care Assistants at our state-of-the-art multi-discipline referral hospital.

You will work alongside Veterinary Surgeons, Veterinary Nurses, and Student Veterinary Nurses to provide vital nursing care, ensuring the wellbeing of patients under the care of SCVS within the neurology department of this multidisciplinary referral hospital. Responsibilities include maintaining hospital hygiene standards, assisting with veterinary treatments, preparing clinical areas and surgical theatres, assisting during diagnostic and surgical procedures, and maintaining surgical equipment and attire.

SCVS is a specialist-led small animal hospital equipped to handle complex cases. Our large multidisciplinary referral hospital features advanced facilities and cutting-edge equipment, enabling us to provide exceptional care from initial consultation to discharge. Located in Ringwood, Hampshire, near the A31, our location is convenient for clients.

Our recent expansion includes a purpose-built theatre complex, a two-storey facility with an expansive reception and waiting area, 10 additional consulting rooms, and a new rehabilitation centre. Future plans include a new diagnostic suite and ICU area.


Role requirements

* Qualifications in Animal Care and prior experience are preferred, but substantial animal handling and husbandry experience will also be considered.
* Dedication to professional and ethical standards.
* Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
* Strong teamwork and effective communication skills.
* Good interpersonal skills are essential.
* Effective time management, self-motivation, proactivity, and initiative.

Working Pattern

Work 4 out of 5 weeks, Monday to Friday 9am-6pm. One week per month, work 12pm-9pm, with one in five weekends on-call for emergencies in our theatres.
