About the school
The school is an education setting based for 16 – 25+ years old with Special Educational Needs. It is based on 350 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside. The school operate enterprise activities and vocational teaching methods to bridge the gap between education and employment for young people and adults with SEN in Dorset and the local area. The school focuses on vocations like horticulture, agriculture, equine skills and animal care as well as many more, to enrich the lives and education of its pupils.
Key Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):
Provide tailored support to students with SEN in both classroom and outdoor learning environments.
Assist in the delivery of vocational and life skills programmes.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning atmosphere.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
Monitor student progress and adapt support strategies to meet individual needs.
Support students during off-site activities and placements when required.
Candidate Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):
Experience working with young people with SEN is highly desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting diverse learning needs.
A valid UK driving license and willingness to drive as part of the role.
Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support are advantageous but not essential.
To work with GSL Education, you must:
Have the right to work in the UK.
Provide an up-to-date CV with two references from the last two years.
Hold an enhanced DBS registered on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
