Job Opportunity: Maintenance Electrician\n Location: Oxford\n Reports to: Head of Maintenance\n\nOur client is looking to appoint a Maintenance Electrician/Assistant to join a small, dedicated maintenance team in Oxford. This is a great opportunity for a skilled professional with a solid electrical background. The role involves day-to-day maintenance of utilities, plant, machinery, and equipment, with a strong focus on electrical tasks, while also supporting general maintenance as needed.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nRespond quickly to maintenance issues and breakdowns as they arise\n\nConduct routine checks of plant, infrastructure, and fabric; monitor and make changes to the College's Building Management System (BMS) as necessary\n\nIdentify and collect materials required for maintenance tasks\n\nSafely store and use chemicals in accordance with COSHH guidelines and hazard data sheets\n\nParticipate in water monitoring regimes, including legionella inspections and reporting\n\nMaintain accurate maintenance records using digital tools such as PDAs or tablets\n\nPerform electrical fault-finding and carry out necessary repairs, ensuring all statutory documentation is completed\n\nConduct testing and inspections as part of the College's planned preventative maintenance schedule\n\nUndertake ongoing training and attend refresher courses to stay current with requirements\n\nAssist with general building maintenance including basic repairs (e.g., lighting, locks, minor carpentry)\n\nProactively report future maintenance needs to the Maintenance Manager or Supervisor\n\nSupport colleagues with day-to-day maintenance and small refurbishment works\n\nRecord and keep updated any changes to electrical installations in College documentation and Health & Safety files\n\nEnsure electrical works are certified and comply with current standards\n\nMaintain tools and test equipment in good working order; report damage or calibration issues\n\nFollow the College's Health & Safety policies at all times and report any potential hazards\n\nUse Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintain a safe working environment\n\nAssist with keeping the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with regulations\n\nCarry a College radio during working hours and communicate as needed to ensure smooth operations\n\nBe flexible and open to taking on new duties or training as needed\n\nParticipate in the out-of-hours call-out rota (after appropriate training and review)\n\nEssential Experience & Qualifications:\n\nProven experience delivering multi-trade repair, planned maintenance, and small projects\n\nPrevious experience working within a small maintenance team\n\nStrong electrical repair and maintenance background\n\nCity & Guilds or NVQ (including AM2) in electrical maintenance/installation\n\n18th Edition wiring regulations certification\n\nPAT testing experience using Seward or similar testers\n\nPrevious participation in an on-call rota\n\nResides within 30-45 minutes of Oxford
