Assistant Management Accountant AfC Band 3 (pro rata) plus a High Secure Environmental Allowance of £1,750.47 per annum (pro rata) Hours –37* Contract Duration – Permanent Post Details – Are you looking to develop your career in NHS finance? We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Management Accountant to join our Finance team at the State Hospital. As an Assistant Management Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the Management Accounting section. You will provide financial support to budget holders, prepare budget statements, analyse expenditure and trends, and assist in the preparation of annual accounts. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a dynamic NHS finance environment, working with a revenue budget of approximately £35m and supporting over 40 budget holders. Please note that, due to forthcoming departmental changes and evolving working practices, this role is expected to be included in a future organisational change process. Experience – You will have: Experience in an NHS finance department or similar environment. Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills. Excellent numeracy, analytical, and communication skills. Experience with purchase ledger processes and VAT regulations (NHS context desirable). Educated to SVQ Level 3, AAT Intermediate, or studying towards a professional accountancy qualification (or equivalent experience). Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet tight deadlines. Personal Attributes: Self-motivated and able to work without supervision. Excellent interpersonal skills. Reduced Working Week* - Starting from 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours, and part-time staff will get a pro-rata reduction in their working hours without losing any earnings.
