Seeking a qualified Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to provide exceptional munication support within a middle school setting. This contract position runs from August 4, 2025, through June 6, 2026, offering between 32.5 and 35 hours per week depending on the school schedule. The role requires in-person presence in the Arlington Heights, Illinois area, with additional opportunities near Aurora and surrounding regions, including openings at an elementary and a high school.
Key Responsibilities:
* Facilitate clear and effective munication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and classroom instruction.
* Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom activities and school events.
* Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to support the educational success of students.
* Adhere to confidentiality, professional ethics, and district policies regarding student interactions.
Qualifications:
* Must hold ISBE approval as a Sign Language Interpreter.
* Minimum of 3.0 EIPA or above to qualify for temporary approval.
* Experience working in educational environments strongly preferred.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to municate effectively with children and staff.
* Must be available to work in person within the specified geographic locations.
