The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) Global Product Stewardship, Regulatory Affairs team has an opening for a 13-month internship as Associate Regulatory Affairs Scientist – Intern. This role will be based at Whitman Laboratories in Petersfield, UK.

The Regulatory Affairs team manages local compliance requirements as well as providing expertise and technical background to global corporate functions on cosmetic ingredients and legislation relevant to ELC products within the EU and other areas of the world.

The Associate Regulatory Affairs Scientist – Intern will be responsible for ensuring the timely submission of EU and UK Cosmetic Notifications for appointed brands, ensuring key business timelines are met. In addition, the successful candidate will support the Consumer Care department with relevant consumer queries and support the EU Regulatory team with key projects where required.

The successful candidate will work closely with the wider EMEA Regulatory team as well as our product safety function.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Support market entry for exciting new launches by managing notification submissions through key regulatory portals (CPNP & SCPN).
2. Management of notification timelines to align with product launch dates.
3. Contribute to special projects relating to EU and UK Cosmetic Notification.
4. Review regulatory acceptability of products for access to a certain market.
5. Advise our Consumer Care team on regulatory-related queries to keep customers informed.
6. Support regulatory projects within the EMEA regulatory team which may include tasks such as review of regulatory texts, supporting authority queries, reviewing compliance documentation and updating regulatory databases.
7. Provide key regulatory support and insights for brands, regional teams and retailers.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

8. Must be studying towards or already have a degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Toxicology or any similar scientific discipline. Should be on course to achieve at least a 2:1.
9. Strong time management and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
10. Highly competent computer skills and an aptitude for learning how to use new systems. Full training on internal systems will be provided.
11. Team player, able to build strong relationships with cross-functional teams and leverage those relationships to manage complex/novel requests.
12. A sharp eye for detail and a knack for staying organised.
13. Curiosity and a hunger to learn in a fast-paced, global environment.
14. Passion for the intersection of science, law, and beauty.
