Do you have the skills to to lead a team on the management of the Travellers site and the council's response to unauthorised encampment to ensure a fair and consistent approach.

We are seeking a Travellers Liaison Manager to lead our work in supporting Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities across Brighton and Hove. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping to shape services, ensuring fair treatment and access to housing, health, education, and welfare.

About the role

We are looking for a Traveller Liaison Manager to lead a dedicated team who provide advice and support to Travellers on housing, welfare, and access to essential services. Additionally, you will coordinate multi-agency responses to complex cases and encampments.

You will act as the primary point of contact between the council and Traveller communities.

You will lead a team on the management of the council's Traveller site, and the council's response to unauthorised encampments, ensuring a fair and consistent approach.

A key part of the role involves developing and maintaining strong relationships with community representatives, support agencies, and internal departments to support joined-up working.
* You need to have proven experience working with Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities or other marginalised groups.
* Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation including equalities, and safeguarding.
* Ability to manage sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
* Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Salary range
* £44,075 - £47,181 per year
