Responsibilities
Apprentice Coaching & Monitoring
Conduct 10-weekly progress reviews with all apprentices to track performance, wellbeing, and achievement.
Provide ongoing support, coaching, and feedback to ensure apprentices meet milestone expectations.
Monitor apprentice progress via the Learner Management System, ensuring documentation, evidence and progress tracking are up to date.
Support learners with any barriers to learning and work closely with managers to maintain high retention and achievement.
Training Delivery & Assessment
Deliver high-quality welding training, including practical demonstrations, skills coaching, and technical knowledge sessions aligned with the Level 3 Plate Welder apprenticeship standard.
Conduct skills assessments and ensure apprentices produce high-quality welding work in line with industry and WEC Group standards.
Prepare apprentices for End Point Assessment (EPA) by delivering mock assessments, portfolio preparation, and EPA guidance.
Quality, Compliance & Safeguarding
Maintain full compliance with apprenticeship funding rules and internal quality processes.
Contribute to standardisation activities and continuous improvement within the training department.
Act as a Safeguarding Officer, promoting learner welfare, identifying concerns, and adhering to safeguarding procedures.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and assessments.
Multi-Site Responsibilities
Provide training and support across Blackburn, Rotherham, and Coventry divisions.
Travel between sites as required to conduct reviews, deliver training and maintain strong learner/employer relationships.
Build positive relationships with production managers, supervisors and teams to ensure apprentices receive high-quality workplace training.
What We Are Looking For:
Strong background in welding, ideally qualified to Level 3 or above (e.g., Plate Welding, Fabrication & Welding).
Experience as a Trainer, Assessor or Mentor within a welding or engineering environment (training qualifications desirable but not essential).
Understanding of apprenticeship standards, competency-based assessment, and learning support.
Ability to organise and manage a large caseload of learners effectively.
Excellent communication, coaching and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to travel regularly to multiple WEC Group sites.
Knowledge of safeguarding, prevent duty and learner welfare (training can be provided).
Driving license is essential.
Working Location/Environment
Based at Blackburn Travel to other sites is essential.
