What will you be doing?
ALTEN is a global engineering consultancy trusted by industry leaders including Airbus, Rolls Royce, and JLR. We are currently seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Commissioning Engineer to support the installation and commissioning of advanced manufacturing systems at a key aerospace client site.
This role will focus on robotic welding and automation and requires a mechanically strong, proactive engineer capable of reacting quickly to technical issues, working independently, and managing multiple stakeholders in a high-pressure environment.
Your main responsibilities will be:
* Commission and install robotic welding and automated manufacturing equipment
* Troubleshoot mechanical and automation issues during installation and ramp-up
* React quickly to unforeseen problems to maintain commissioning schedules
* Coordinate with internal and external teams, including suppliers and project stakeholders
* Maintain accurate documentation on testing, faults, and resolutions
* Ensure all work aligns with aerospace safety and quality standards
Who are we looking for?
* Experience with robotic welding systems and automation equipment
* Proficient in robot programming platforms (e.g. FANUC, KUKA, ABB)
* Familiarity with PLC systems (e.g. Siemens, Allen Bradley)
* Competence in mechanical CAD tools (e.g. CATIA, SolidWorks)
* Strong understanding of mechanical systems and integration
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation
* Previous experience working in aerospace manufacturing environments
* Experience at companies such as Airbus, Broetje Automation, or Electroimpact is highly desirable

Qualifications
Experience, skills and qualifications required:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline
* Exposure to robotic systems, industrial automation, or mechanical integration as part of academic projects or early professional experience
* Understanding of technical drawings, basic control systems, or CAD tools (e.g. CATIA, SolidWorks) is advantageous
