History Teacher
Location: Durham
Contract: Full-time
Key Stages: KS3-KS4
Start Date: January 2026
An Outstanding secondary school in Durham is seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and committed History Teacher to join their exceptional teaching team. This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of local, national, and global history.
Role Responsibilities:
* Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging History lessons in line with the national curriculum.
* Teach across KS3 and KS4, covering topics such as medieval history, the early modern period, modern world history, and thematic studies.
* Create a supportive and stimulating learning environment that motivates students to develop a passion for historical enquiry.
* Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including those with additional support needs.
* Monitor, assess, and provide meaningful feedback to support pupil progress and attainment.
* Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations, ensuring they feel confident and well-prepared.
* Contribute to curriculum planning, resource development, and the ongoing improvement of the Humanities department.
* Support extracurricular and enrichment opportunities such as history clubs, educational trips, or cultural visits where possible.
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
* Experience teaching History at KS3-KS4.
* Strong subject knowledge and the ability to bring historical events and themes to life.
* Excellent classroom management, communication skills, and a commitment to raising standards.
