We’re thrilled to be recruiting for a brand new role, Deputy Director of Music & Curriculum, to help shape and strengthen the musical delivery at our Big Noise programmes across the country.

This is a new role, reflecting the desire to support effective learning and teaching across the organisation, in line with our organisational strategy. You will work closely with the Director of Music & Curriculum to support and strengthen the musical delivery of our Big Noise programmes, including key support in quality assurance, the planning & execution of training & induction, cross‑centre musical collaborations, and ensuring the principles of inclusive practice are embedded in our work. As part of the Leadership Team, you will also support the smooth running of the organisation and delivery on strategic outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

* Support and strengthen the musical delivery of our Big Noise programmes.
* Provide quality assurance and plan & execute training & induction programmes.
* Facilitate cross‑centre musical collaborations.
* Embed inclusive practice principles in all musical activities.
* Assist the Leadership Team in the smooth running of the organisation and delivery of strategic outcomes.


Qualifications & Experience

* Extensive experience of large group/whole‑class musicianship and instrumental instruction with a proven track record of success.
* Experience of teaching using a Kodaly‑inspired approach and applying it to instrumental pedagogy.
* Experience of providing constructive feedback and training to musicians/teachers.

Hybrid working between our Big Noise centres across Scotland (in Stirling, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh) and home working. You will travel to and work from one of our centres for the majority of your week.

This is a permanent, full‑time (35 hours per week) post. Salary for this post is £56,000 per annum.

The selection process will be held in one of our central belt centres on Thursday 19th March 2026 and will include a panel interview, a short audition, a demonstration lesson and a short competency task.
