Offer description

The Mathematics Specialist Primary Curriculum Lead plays a key role in the development and delivery of the PGCE Primary Mathematics programme, including a subject specialist strand. You will contribute to teaching across postgraduate teacher education provision and, where appropriate, to the professional studies strand, working closely with partnership schools to support the development of student teachers in a range of educational settings. The role involves contributing to curriculum review and development, supporting teaching quality assurance processes, and undertaking appropriate administrative and professional duties within the School. As part of a research‑led university, the post holder will maintain an informed understanding of current research and scholarship to ensure high‑quality teaching and may also contribute to engagement and impact activity linked to schools and teachers. About you You will have a good first degree and a masters degree in a relevant subject area, Qualified Teacher Status, and significant, successful experience of teaching in schools within the relevant age phase. You will also have experience of initial teacher education in a school or higher education context, alongside the ability to design and deliver effective learning programmes and to mentor and support student teachers. A commitment to holding, or working towards, an appropriate higher education teaching qualification is essential. You will bring strong interpersonal and communication skills, confidence in using IT to support teaching and administration, and a high level of proficiency in English suitable for academic teaching and professional collaboration. Experience of postgraduate programme development, CPD delivery or consultancy, and an interest in doctoral study would be advantageous, as would a willingness to contribute to the wider life of the School and University through collaborative working and professional engagement. Additional information For informal enquiries, please contact Jenny Bosworth on [email protected] We anticipate that interviews will take place on 22 June 2026. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 because the appointee will have substantial access to young people and/or vulnerable adults. Therefore, an appointment to this post will be subject to checking and appropriate clearance through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The successful applicant for this post will, therefore, be required to give consent for the University to check with the DBS for the existence and content of any criminal record in the form of an Enhanced Disclosure. Information received from the DBS and the police will be kept in strict confidence and will be destroyed once the University is satisfied in this regard.
