Social Worker – Integrated Front Door (IFD)
Location: Bradford (Hybrid – 2 days per week in office)
Contract: Full‑time
Sector: Children’s Services
We are delighted to be supporting Bradford Children and Families Trust (BCFT) in recruiting an experienced Social Worker to join their Integrated Front Door (IFD) service.
(You may know this type of service as MASH in other areas.)
The IFD is the single point of access for Children’s Services in Bradford for all children and young people not already receiving support from BCFT. This is a fast‑paced, supportive, and dynamic environment where your social work expertise will make a significant impact on safeguarding decisions at the earliest stage.
About the Role
As a Social Worker within the IFD, you will be part of a wider team responding to all new concerns raised by professionals or members of the public, primarily via telephone.
The service operates a conversational model:
* Initial calls are answered by a Business Support Officer, who gathers basic information and creates the child’s record.
* The call is then transferred to you, where your professional judgement and safeguarding experience will guide the next steps.
You will use your skills to:
* Provide safeguarding advice and guidance
* Signpost families to early help or universal services
* Progress cases to early help where appropriate
* Make referrals to social work assessment teams where concerns meet statutory thresholds
You will be supported by three Practice Supervisors and five Team Managers, ensuring advice and guidance is always available when needed.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Minimum 3 years’ child protection experience
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory requirements
* Ability to work quickly and confidently in a busy frontline environment
* Excellent communication skills and a commitment to high‑quality decision‑making
* A team‑focused, positive approach
This is a hybrid role, requiring attendance in the office at least 2 days per week.
Why Join the IFD?
* Be the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns, making a real difference at the earliest opportunity
* Work in a friendly, collaborative, and well‑supported team
* Develop your assessment and decision‑making skills in a fast‑paced environment
* Opportunities for professional development within BCFT
If you are passionate about safeguarding children and thrive in a frontline environment where every decision counts, we would love to hear from you
