The role
This is a hands‑on design role with leadership built in. You’ll be the person who turns ideas into eye‑catching, on‑brand creative that gets people through the doors, while also shaping how we do design as a team. You’ll lead projects, protect the Brio brand, and support our Creative Designer in doing their best work.
If you love designing across print and digital channels, enjoy thinking big and getting stuck in, and get a buzz from helping others grow, then this is the job for you.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Leading creative projects from first idea to final artwork, digital and print
* Designing day‑to‑day marketing materials that are bold, clear and unmistakably Brio
* Acting as guardian of the Brio brand, making sure everything looks and feels right wherever it shows up
* Working closely with the Content & Campaigns Manager to shape briefs, improve processes and keep projects moving
* Managing and mentoring the Creative Designer, setting direction, prioritising work and supporting their development
* Turning briefs into strong concepts, then into polished, production‑ready designs
* Designing campaigns across the website, social, app, email and print
* Advising colleagues on design approach, format and print production
* Supporting the wider team with creative skills, from illustrations and animation to basic video and motion
* Producing ad‑hoc creative when it’s needed (because real life happens)
What You’re Great At
* Designing – properly hands‑on, not just directing others
* Knowing when to push an idea further, and when to keep it simple
* Giving clear, constructive feedback and helping others improve
* Managing multiple projects without losing the details
* Adapting your style to different audiences, channels and briefs
Essential Skills & Experience
* At least 2 years experience in a creative design role
* Strong experience with Adobe Creative Suite and digital tools like Figma
* Confident working across digital and print
* A solid understanding of branding, typography, layout and visual hierarchy
* Experience developing concepts and seeing them through to final production
* Ability to support, guide and develop another designer
Desirable
* Illustration or more organic design styles
* Experience with motion, animation or video
* UX knowledge, wireframes and designing with clear calls‑to‑action in mind
Practical Bits
* Able to travel across Cheshire West and Chester
This role is not for someone who wants to step away from design and focus solely on management. It is for someone who wants to lead by example, design great work, and help shape the creative direction of Brio as we grow.
