About the job
Lead the company's strategy in reducing crime and improving security, including being responsible for the company's statutory and regulatory duties. Accountability for SWR's safeguarding strategy and driving down incidents of workplace violence. Works closely with the Head of Occupational Safety to foster a positive safety culture and leads safety and security training.
Your main responsibilities will be:
1. Lead efforts to reduce crime and enhance security, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory duties.
2. Manage SWR's application of the National Rail Security Programme.
3. Oversee GDPR compliance, acting as Data Control Officer.
4. Coordinate security arrangements across SWR.
5. Collaborate with BTP and other agencies to reduce crime, disorder, and suicides, and improve public confidence.
6. Conduct regular meetings with security agencies to address crime hot-spots and prevent fatalities.
7. Engage with RDG Police & Security group on wider rail security issues.
8. Support management in delivering security briefings.
9. Ensure security compliance and legislation adherence, including CCTV.
10. Manage high-profile security across teams and networks.
11. Develop annual security strategies addressing trespass, vulnerable people, and staff assaults.
12. Implement action plans for issues identified in strategies and emerging concerns.
13. Manage security committees and represent SWR at security and safety meetings.
14. Lead multi-functional projects to improve performance.
15. Maintain security documentation.
16. Manage the security budget.
17. Deliver security training to ensure compliance.
18. Support investigations related to professional standards.
19. Act as Coroners Liaison Officer and represent SWR during coronial processes.
20. Stand in for the Safety and Security Director as needed.

Minimum requirements include:
1. Degree or equivalent experience in Crime Prevention or NPSA qualifications.
2. Membership of a professional security organisation.
3. Senior leadership experience managing large teams.
4. Strong knowledge of Crime and Security.
5. National Security clearance.
6. Experience building positive relationships with communities and stakeholders.
7. Experience analyzing security data.
Desirable skills and knowledge include:
1. Knowledge of railway policing.
2. Understanding of railway security requirements, especially the NRSP.
3. Experience delivering safety and security training.
About the location
SWR HQ is located on the 4th Floor at South Bank Central, near the River Thames and Waterloo station. It is surrounded by attractions, restaurants, and retail, accessible via public transport.
Working pattern
37 hours/week over 5 days, mainly 9-5, with some weekend work for major events and on-call duties.
