Overview
Join Kainos as the Central Government and Education Business Development Director. This role is part of the Public Sector Business Development team, focusing on growth and revenue generation with Public Sector clients across the UK and Ireland. The team is devolved into sectoral groups to support Public Sector clients, including Central Government and Education.
Responsibilities
* Put deals together to meet sales, revenue, and profitability objectives while ensuring work aligns with Kainos’ strategy and goals.
* Build and develop strategic partnerships with other businesses to position Kainos as a trusted go-to partner.
* Negotiate and manage senior stakeholders; refine proposals to achieve win/win outcomes for Kainos and customers.
* Collaborate with colleagues across business units and industry partners to maximise cross-selling opportunities.
* Mentor, coach, and develop colleagues within the client group and the wider Public Sector team, supporting career development.
Essential requirements
* Hands-on experience leading new Business Development opportunities with UK Public Sector client accounts in excess of £5m per annum, selling complex digital solutions.
* Excellent knowledge of digital service concepts and ability to articulate product/service value and differentiate from competitors.
* Expert in business development processes, deal commercials, and constructing complex commercial offers.
* Ability to create and lead pursuit plans to win multi-million-pound deals and deliver against targets.
* An understanding of technology delivery, agile methodologies, and related trends.
* A genuine passion for solving complex customer problems with technology and broad technology experience.
* Ability to operate in a competitive, high-pressure environment and make sound decisions.
* Strong written and verbal communication; ability to present and influence at all levels, including executive/C-level.
* Expert networking skills and ability to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders.
* Excellent planning and deadline management aligned with business requirements.
* Strong negotiation skills, both commercially and contractually, with experience in resolving escalations.
* Commitment to developing people and mentoring team members.
Desirable
* Experience working with global partners to build co-sell relationships and generate revenue.
* Direct experience in central government, education, or regulators.
* Delivery experience with ability to engage across client delivery teams.
* Experience growing a market sector and developing new offerings.
