Neway International are seeking a Social Worker to join our client Nottinghamshire County Council.

Location: 40 Station Road, Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, NG17 5GA
Hours: 37 per week
Start Date: 23 February 2026
Duration: ongoing
Work Pattern: Hybrid – minimum three days per week in the office
Pay Rates: PAYE £20.29 per hour / Limited/Umbrella £27.40 per hour

About the Client
Nottinghamshire County Council’s Children and Families service supports children, young people, and families across the county. The Sutton in Ashfield office is centrally located within the district and benefits from strong multi‑agency partnerships, including domestic abuse and substance misuse practitioners based on site. The service is rated Good by Ofsted and is striving for Outstanding, with a strong commitment to Strengths Based practice.

The Role
The Social Worker will work within a busy district team supporting families under Child in Need and Child Protection plans, and up to the point of issuing care proceedings. Cases may come directly from MASH or via the Assessment Team, depending on circumstances. The role involves statutory responsibilities, crisis intervention, multi‑agency collaboration, and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children.

You will work alongside Advanced Practitioners, Social Work Support Officers, and Family Support Workers to ensure effective case progression and high‑quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement Child Protection and Child in Need plans in partnership with multi‑agency teams.

Undertake statutory visits and maintain accurate, timely case records.

Respond to crisis situations to ensure immediate child safety.

Attend and contribute to child protection conferences, core groups, and court‑related meetings.

Work directly with families to promote positive change and improve outcomes for children.

Liaise with schools, health professionals, police, and partner agencies to coordinate support.

Prepare written reports and evidence for legal proceedings when required.

Monitor and review cases to ensure progress and compliance with care plans.

Advocate for the rights, safety, and welfare of children and young people.

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with relevant registration.

Experience working within Child Protection, CIN, or similar statutory children’s services.

Strong assessment, planning, and crisis‑intervention skills.

Ability to work collaboratively within a multi‑agency environment.

Commitment to Strengths Based practice and high‑quality service delivery.

Ability to work in the office at least three days per week to support team cohesion and development.
