Bekynton is the central catering facility at Eton College, primarily serving breakfast, lunch, and supper for students across 12 of the 25 boarding houses. It currently serves approximately 15,000 meals weekly over 37 weeks per year, totaling around 555,000 meals annually, with ongoing growth. Bekynton also prepares and delivers 32,000 packed meals for campus sports events, provides 9,500 hot and cold sports teas annually, and has catered in 64 different venues around Eton. The facility also caters for community events such as House Events and the Eton Action Fair, among others requiring entertainment.
As Chef de Partie, you will ensure the prompt and efficient preparation of all meals to meet the College's standards, adhering to service level agreements and ensuring client satisfaction. Responsibilities include maintaining food safety and health standards according to regulations, providing high-quality food for pupils and staff, and delivering excellent hospitality and event catering.
Your duties will include:
1. Preparing, cooking, and serving delegated foods, maintaining high quality standards;
2. Supporting all aspects of food production and presentation, ensuring compliance with health, safety, hygiene, nutritional, and allergen regulations, and reporting non-compliance;
3. Following procedures regarding temperature checks, food labelling, dating, cleaning schedules, and hygiene, and keeping records accordingly;
4. Assisting the Sous Chef in station checks and maintenance, and taking responsibility in their absence;
5. Collaborating with the chef team to identify and implement improvements;
6. Controlling and rotating stock effectively;
7. Keeping the work area clean, hygienic, and tidy;
8. Identifying hazards and reporting equipment or kitchen defects to the senior chef;
9. Engaging in relevant training and development;

To succeed in this role, candidates should have:
* Previous kitchen experience in a similar environment;
* NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Food Preparation and Cookery;
* A Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate;

* Great attention to detail and pride in work, with a commitment to high standards;
* Effective communication skills with customers, clients, and staff.
