We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead and grow a portfolio of strategic retail merchants headquartered in Europe. These merchants include a mix of major retail brands, premium retailers, and luxury houses with high expectations for customer experience and partnership quality.
You will own the commercial and strategic direction of your accounts while bringing strong product acumen — shaping merchant requirements, influencing internal product direction, and ensuring our solutions evolve in line with client needs. The role requires a consultative approach, strong relationship management skills, and the ability to navigate complex, multi-market organizations.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Partnership & Account Leadership
13. Manage a portfolio of strategic European retail merchants, including premium and luxury brands with elevated expectations around service and execution.
14. Build long-term strategic account plans with a consultative approach, ensuring PayPal’s solutions support merchant growth and deliver strong customer experiences.
15. Act as a trusted senior advisor to commercial, product, and technical stakeholders.
16. Interpret merchant requirements and translate them into actionable insights for internal teams, influencing prioritization where appropriate.
Commercial, Product & Operational Execution
17. Lead commercial negotiations (pricing, renewals, expansions) with a thoughtful and consultative mindset, tailored to each merchant’s brand and global strategy.
18. Maintain a deep understanding of PayPal’s product suite, APIs, platform capabilities, and integration models to guide merchants through solution decisions and performance optimization.
19. Monitor account performance and product adoption to identify risks, trends, and growth opportunities.
20. Partner closely with Product, Solutions Engineering, Integrations, Customer Success, and Operations to ensure seamless launches and consistent operational excellence.
21. Identify friction points in the merchant experience and proactively propose enhancements.
Market, Merchant & Technology Insights
22. Stay informed on European retail dynamics, customer behavioral trends, and commerce technology evolution.
23. Apply these insights to shape strategic account plans and provide guidance to merchants, particularly those investing in elevated customer experiences.
24. Share market feedback with internal teams to influence product roadmaps and improve merchant outcomes.
Required Experience & Skills
25. 8+ years of experience in strategic account management, enterprise partnerships, or product-influencing commercial roles.
26. Strong understanding of digital commerce, retail ecosystems, and ideally payments/fintech.
27. Experience working with premium or high-expectation brands (a plus, not a requirement).
28. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with product and technical teams and influence strategic direction.
29. Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills across senior business and technical stakeholders.
30. Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
31. Fluent English; other European languages are a plus.
32. Some travel required, depending on the candidate and account needs.
