The role of the Nursery Chef is a unique opportunity for a qualified and experienced chef to work weekdays with no evening or weekend working. This is a stand alone role with full responsibility for planning, ordering, cooking and maintaining the kitchen.
You will provide nutritionally balanced, freshly prepared meals for the children in our care and to be totally responsible for the safe and hygienic management of the nursery kitchen. You will have a passion for producing good quality food with an understanding of the nutritional needs of children.
Main tasks and accountabilities
* To be responsible for the day to day running of the kitchen.
* To adhere to "Cook Safe" and the HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point) System and House Rules to ensure that all the principles and guidance are followed and that all records are maintained and kept up to date.
* To take cognisance of 'Setting the Table'.
* To prepare and present freshly cooked meals in accordance with good hygiene practices for the nursery staff to serve to children in our care.
* The chef must also provide suitable alternatives to accommodate for children with allergies, particular dietary requests and those who observe religious beliefs.
* To work with the nursery management team to plan a well-balanced, healthy and fresh menu.
* To maintain accurate records regarding temperature controls etc.
* To complete food orders within allocated budgets and the appropriate timescales for deliveries.
* To adhere strictly to Food Hygiene Regulations and other safety procedures at all times.
You should have at least 1 years experience of working within a catering environment with an excellent understanding of food hygiene standards and allergens. You should holds a current food hygiene certificate and a recognised catering qualification would be desirable.
