The Role: Targeted Intervention for Teenagers
We are seeking a resilient, experienced professional to provide intensive, targeted support to students (aged 11-16) who face significant emotional and behavioural barriers to learning within the mainstream setting. This is a hands‑on role requiring a calm, consistent, and therapeutic approach.
What You Will Do:
* Intensive Intervention: Deliver specialised 1:1 or small group interventions focused on social skills, emotional regulation, and functional academic skills, guided by student EHCPs and behaviour support plans.
* Behaviour and SEMH Support: Utilise a trauma-informed and restorative approach to manage complex and challenging behaviour in and out of the classroom. You will be crucial in de‑escalating crises and supporting students back into the learning environment.
* Mentorship: Act as a key adult, building strong, professional, and trusting relationships that guide vulnerable students towards positive choices and successful re‑engagement with their education.
* Specialist Expertise: Provide knowledgeable support for students with specific needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, anxiety, and school refusal.
* Team Collaboration: Work closely with the SENCO, Pastoral Heads, and teaching staff to ensure cohesive and holistic support across the school.
Essential Skills & Expertise
* Relevant Experience: Significant experience working directly with secondary‑aged young people (11-16) with Complex SEMH, Challenging Behaviour, or Multiple SEND (e.g., in a PRU, AP, or specialist unit within a mainstream school).
* De‑escalation: Proven ability in safe behaviour intervention and crisis management techniques (formal training such as Team Teach, MAPA, or similar is highly desirable).
* Instructional Aptitude: The ability to support and deliver focused interventions on core subjects (e.g., functional literacy/numeracy) or life skills.
* Resilience & Consistency: The capacity to maintain professional composure and consistency in challenging situations, demonstrating outstanding patience.
