Job Advert: Design & Technology Technician
Location: Secondary School, Preston (PR3)
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Pay: Daily rates dependent on experience
We are seeking a Design & Technology (DT) Technician to join a vibrant secondary school in Preston on a short-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical skills and a passion for supporting students in creative subjects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Textiles: Operate sewing machines, assist with cutting materials, and support students during practical lessons.
* Cooking: Help with food preparation, supervise practical sessions, and maintain cleanliness (including using the washing machine).
* Resistant Materials: Assist with woodwork tasks, including cutting wood, organising tools, and ensuring safe use of equipment.
* Maintain a tidy and safe working environment across all DT areas.
* Provide hands-on support to teachers and students during lessons.
Requirements:
* Ability to confidently use a sewing machine.
* Practical experience in cooking and woodwork.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently.
Contract Details:
* Full-time, 5 days per week (10:00 AM – 4:00 PM).
* Immediate start until the end of January.
* Competitive daily rates (dependent on experience).
