Suffolk County Council is looking for Ceremony Officers (Celebrants) to conduct and register legal ceremonies on flexible, zero‑hour contracts. They will be based at a Registration Office but must travel across Suffolk to lead ceremonies at various venues. The role involves about 3,000 ceremonies per year across 120 venues and in‑office rooms.
Responsibilities
* Conduct and/or register civil ceremonies throughout the county, in ceremony rooms or licensed venues.
* Meet couples, prepare scripts, discuss requirements, and manage related paperwork.
* Conduct renewals of vows and celebration ceremonies.
* Maintain flexibility to work weekdays, weekends and most bank holidays.
Qualifications
* High personal resilience and flexibility.
* Proven experience working independently and as part of a team.
* Confident public speaker with excellent presentation and communication skills.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy; neat, legible handwriting.
* Experienced working with emotional or sensitive clients.
* Ability to travel to rural locations as required.
* English of a very high standard.
