HSW Advisor Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2‑gigawatt power station generating low‑carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Marine and Tunnels Section.
What will you do?
The HSW Advisor will monitor and provide Health, Safety and Wellbeing input from design through to implementation, supporting the wider HSW agenda and ensuring governance, compliance, and legal obligations are met across the project.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Undertaking planned site inspections, audits, and safety tours
* Carrying out pre‑work inspections to identify and mitigate risks at planning stage
* Supporting incident investigations and tracking trends and lessons learned
* Preparing reports following inspections, audits, and investigations
* Reviewing and updating project documentation and safety procedures
* Delivering training sessions, safety briefings, and site inductions
* Supporting behavioural safety programmes and promoting a positive safety culture
* Assisting with risk assessments, work package plan reviews, and safety documentation
* Coaching and mentoring project teams on HSES best practice
* Supporting emergency planning and compliance with the business management system

Applicants should hold a NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety and have experience working within construction, infrastructure, or heavy civil engineering environments, with a strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation and site‑based risk management.
