Overview
We are looking for an experienced Childrens Mental Health Practitioner to join our Central Basildon PCN for 12 months fixed term. As part of the NHS long term plan, local areas were asked to realign community mental health services with primary care networks, creating new and integrated models of primary and community mental health care.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a patient facing role to assess and manage patients using specialist knowledge
* Assist in the assessment of new patients with subsequent production and completion of individual care plans
* Provide specialist clinical support and advice to young people with mental health difficulties
* Work with patients to support engagement with appropriate services and treatment which may include onward referral to secondary mental health services or signposting to other mental health services, voluntary services and support groups
* Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary
* Be responsible for day-to-day planning of personal workloads
* Follow departmental policies, procedures and guidelines
* Triage and receive referrals and directed patients from within the PCN
* Communicate effectively with patients, recognising the need for varying methods of communication to overcome different levels of understanding, cultural background and preferred ways of communicating
About the role and service delivery
The PCN CYP MH Practitioner posts support the clinical development and delivery of Primary Care Networks (PCNs) in Essex. The post holder will manage a caseload of children and young people (CYP) with mild to moderate mental health needs, delivering evidence-based low intensity interventions, and working with GP practices to support families and liaise with professionals. The role involves collaboration with the service manager and clinical lead to facilitate wider service transformation within the local child mental health system.
Qualifications
Essential
* Registered/Accredited Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, Family Therapist, Drama Therapist, Art Psychotherapist, CBT Therapist, Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist, IPT-a therapist; OR qualified and registered RMN/RGN, Health Visitor and CPD/experience equivalent to PgDip in delivering evidence-based psychological interventions and further CPD relevant to the role
* At least 2 years' experience of delivering evidence-based psychological interventions in mental health with children and young people
* Experience of assessing children and young people presenting with a wide range of clinical presentations (low mood, anxiety, OCD, phobias, early psychosis, developmental conditions and others)
* Experience of working with more complex presentations and neurodivergence
* Essential travel ability to travel efficiently throughout the area
Desirable
* CBT training at Pg level if not a CB therapist by background
* Experience working with or in primary care settings
* Experience of providing clinical interventions in different cultural contexts
Work arrangements
Band 7, Fixed term, 12 months, Full-time with flexible working options. Travel around the county for meetings or training may be required. Base: Central Basildon PCNs, Fryerns Medical Centre and surrounding GP practices in Basildon (SS14 3SS).

This post is subject to a probationary period (internal applicants may be exempt). Certificates of Sponsorship may be considered; UKVI sponsorship eligibility should be checked. High-Cost Area Supplement applies (5% of basic salary, £1,303 to £2,198 per annum pro rata).
