Responsibilities
* Participate in an annual appraisal
* Actively participate in clinical and practice meetings
* Develop clinical protocols for the surgery and the team
* Provide chronic disease management for Diabetes, COPD, Asthma, and CHD/CVD
* Perform cervical screening and promote breast awareness
* Administer adult and paediatric injections
* Provide adult and child immunisations ensuring full achievement of targets
* Ensure safe storage, rotation, and disposal of vaccines and drugs
* Undertake venepuncture and electrocardiography
* Undertake wound care/management/dressing techniques
* Undertake leg ulcer management, dopplers and compression bandaging
* Provide advice on lifestyle issues, assisting and supporting patients in changing their unhealthy behaviours and referring appropriately
* Participate in the smoking cessation service
* Deliver travel health care, including vaccinations and advice for patients
* Recognise the signs of child abuse, family violence, vulnerable adults, substance abuse, addictive behaviours, suicidal tendencies, and be aware of local referral procedures
* Work with safeguarding teams where relevant
* Ensure that current evidence-based approaches to patient care are standard practice
* Apply infection control measures when collecting and handling of laboratory specimens, disposing of waste materials, dealing with blood and body fluids, spillages, and report and treat sharps injuries
* Undertake first aid and management of emergencies (e.g., burns, haemorrhages, hypo/hyperglycaemic emergencies/asthma attacks)
* Provide a comprehensive family planning service
* Audit outcomes of care against standards and initiate change as necessary to ensure follow-up audit cycle
* Maintain and update disease registers
