About Sanders Web Works

Now in its 13th year of business, Sanders Web Works is a small, well-respected web agency based in Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire. We provide high quality web design and web maintenance services to a diverse client base, ranging from local sole traders to national organisations. By offering a human face to web design, and ensuring high standards of service, we enjoy exceptional client retention and customer feedback.

Although we're happy to create simple websites, we thrive on providing bespoke solutions that require technical expertise.

Though some of our work is carried out remotely, we remain a friendly, close-knit team, with a strong culture of mutual support.

As part of our ongoing development, we're looking for an innovative and flexible Content Editor to join our team. If you can write fluently and would thrive on helping our clients to reach their goals, we'd love to hear from you

Job Description

This is an established role within the company, and initially you will be working alongside the current content editor.

The role has three main aspects. Firstly, you'll be looking after our existing clients by regularly updating their websites. This will involve planning, researching and writing longer items such as blog posts or web pages, but also adding news items, announcements and social media posts. Alongside written material, you'll be processing and uploading other types of content to their sites, including images, videos, course and product details. Some basic website editing will be involved using a Content Management System.

Secondly, for prospective clients, or existing clients looking to upgrade, you will analyse their existing web presence and suggest improvements, documenting these in wireframes, sitemaps and reports. If they go ahead with the work, you'll be responsible for researching and creating all the written content, from single webpages through to entire websites, and/or optimising for SEO.

Thirdly, you'll collaborate with the team in producing strategic and other internal company documents, company marketing material and client proposals.

This is a stimulating and satisfying role for someone who enjoys being creative, likes tinkering with websites and gets a buzz from helping customers achieve their goals. There may be opportunities to extend the role, depending on your skill set.

Specific responsibilities

Regular website content maintenance that may involve:

* Planning, researching and writing blogs, news items, or other online marketing copy.
* Proofreading and copy-editing.
* Processing and uploading images, documents, spreadsheet data, product or course details.
* Website editing using a Content Management System.
* Direct contact with clients.
* Data entry when required.

Planning, researching and writing website pages and entire websites, including:

* Analysing websites for strengths and weaknesses.
* Producing website sitemaps and wireframes.
* Selecting appropriate stock images and applying basic image manipulation.

Implementing SEO strategies; optimising content for SEO.

Producing and managing social media content.

Writing offline media such as brochures or leaflets.

Working in a team with designers, developers and sales account managers to produce finished work.

What we're looking for

Writing/research skills and experience.

We need someone who can write fluently, cogently and with technical accuracy. You'll need to adjust your writing tone to suit different audiences and platforms – including social media - and be able to inject marketing pizzazz when needed. To inform your writing, you'll need solid research skills, and be prepared to delve into all sorts of specialist subjects. Using AI in your role isn't out of the question, but you'll need a keen sense of its limitations, both in writing and research.

Technical skills and experience

Most of your work will take place in situ on websites, using platforms such as WordPress and Elementor. Some previous experience with website editing is therefore essential, as well as familiarity with best SEO practice. However, we appreciate it's unlikely that you'll have used all of the various technologies we employ, so you must also be willing to get to grips with unfamiliar systems.

Customer-oriented approach

Our business relies upon offering customers a great standard of service, and that will need to be embedded in everything you do. In practice, that means being careful and thorough in carrying out all your tasks, remembering that the client's website represents their organisation.

Although you won't be the primary contact with most clients, when you do deal with them, you will need to accommodate their wide range of backgrounds, personalities, and technical knowledge.

Other attributes

We're looking for someone who thrives working in a small team, rather than an impersonal high-pressure environment. However, as a fair bit of your work will be carried out independently, you'll also need to be a self-starter, comfortable in making decisions and finding your own solutions. And if you're not fazed when team discussions detour into ancient video games (or other geeky destinations), so much the better

Practicalities

Initially, this is a part-time role. Overtime may be available, depending on our workflow, with the possibility of increasing permanent hours as our operations expand. You will be office based to begin with, but hybrid working may be feasible after you have successfully completed a probationary period.

There will be a handover period working with the current content editor until the end of year, after which you will take on all the responsibilities of the post.

Benefits

This post is an opportunity to use your creative skills, work on a diverse range of tasks, and develop valuable web and tech skills. As part of a small company, your voice carries more weight, and you will benefit from the support of a friendly and welcoming team. You will be able to work from home for at least one day a week (following your probationary period), with the possibility of greater flexibility later on.

In addition, the position offers:

* Base salary: £25,480 pro-rata
* Hours per week: 20, with possible overtime
* Paid out-of-pocket expenses
* Enhanced sick pay
* Collaborative and innovative team culture
* Career growth as we expand our operations

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £25,480.00 per year

Expected hours: 20 per week

Benefits:

* Casual dress
* Free parking
* On-site parking
* Sick pay
* Work from home

Work Location: In person

Application deadline: 09/10/2025
