Project work will be varied, with a strong focus on renewable energy, infrastructure, residential schemes, and other commercial development projects. Applicants must be flexible regarding travel and working hours, especially during survey periods, and be prepared to work away from home as projects require. A full driving licence and access to a car are essential.
Responsibilities:
1. Managing ecological projects (based on experience), assisting team leads with resource allocation and financial budgets, addressing client feedback, and ensuring effective communication on all projects.
2. Producing and overseeing ecological appraisals, reports, licence applications, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, EPS licences, and similar documents.
3. Mentoring junior team members.
4. Carrying out ecological surveys as necessary and ensuring surveys meet required standards.
5. Assisting team leads with preparing fee proposals.
6. Managing ecological projects to completion, ensuring reporting standards meet requirements of planning authorities, Natural England, Natural Resources Wales, and others.
7. Preparing a wide range of technical reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitat Regulations Assessments, and others.
8. Conducting Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments and designing solutions.
9. Demonstrating self-motivation and strong communication skills, and working effectively as part of a team.
10. Being an Associate or Full member of CIEEM or a relevant institute.
11. Specialising in areas such as ornithology, bats, or habitat restoration (desirable but not essential).
12. Possessing personal species licences for bats, GCN, otters (desirable but not essential).
