Overview
MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina.
Responsibilities
 * Provides patient/family centered care, acting as partner and adviser, assists and supports patients and families to optimally manage their health care, respecting culture, values, individual needs, health goals and treatment preferences.
 * Applies critical reasoning and clinical judgment to expedite appropriate care and treatment, including patients with complex or potentially life-threatening conditions.
 * Uses clinical problem-solving relative to the scope of practice, knowledge, competency, and experience.
 * Assists medical staff with preparation, examination, and procedures, including interviewing/screening patients, documenting records and vital signs, performing telephone and in-person screenings.
 * Participates in recording and reporting responsibilities; documents findings relevant to the patient’s health care status or plan of care in accordance with policies/procedures.
 * Prioritizes and documents patient incoming phone calls regarding medications and medical conditions, and reviews with the provider for orders or changes as needed.
 * Cleans and stocks examination rooms and/or other supply areas; documents all patient care delivered in the medical record according to policy.
Minimum Education And Experiences
 * Graduation from a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program and licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state.
 * One year of LPN experience preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either through American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or equivalent; or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Physical Requirements
 * Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, and climbing stairs; work from elevated or confined spaces; kneel, bend, twist, squat, and perform fine and gross motor tasks.
 * Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted and to lift/lower objects from floor to 36 inches; ability to push/pull heavy loads with assistance as needed.
 * Ability to maintain good vision and hearing; ability to work in a latex-safe environment and perform respirator use as required.
 * Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as needed.
