Are you an experienced Senior Social Worker looking for a rewarding locum opportunity within a busy Adults Disability Services team? Everest Recruitment and Services is working with DMBC Adult Social Care to recruit a Senior Qualified Social Worker for their Preparing for Adulthood team within Adults Disability Services.
This is a full-time locum position commencing 25 February 2026 through to 31 August 2026, based in Dudley.
Pay and Engagement
£31.97 per hour. Engaged inside IR35. Payment via PAYE or approved Umbrella Company — processed weekly. Expenses not included.
The Role
As a Senior Social Worker you will operate as an autonomous and exemplary practitioner, providing professional leadership and practice knowledge to colleagues across the team. You will work with vulnerable adults who have complex needs, completing holistic assessments using a Strength Based and Enabling model, developing support plans to promote independence, and leading safeguarding enquiries in line with Dudley's Adult Safeguarding Policy. You will also supervise and mentor less experienced social workers, deputise for the Assistant Team Manager and Team Manager as required, and contribute to duty cover and resource management processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a complex caseload involving risk and safeguarding, prioritising effectively and making sound professional judgements
* Lead and undertake safeguarding enquiries, applying Making Safeguarding Personal principles
* Complete strength based assessments and develop support plans promoting independence through Direct Payments and Personal Budgets
* Supervise, mentor and support junior social workers, ASYE staff and students
* Deputise for the Assistant Team Manager and Team Manager as required
* Chair and facilitate planning and review meetings
* Work in partnership with adults, carers and multi‑agency professionals to achieve positive outcomes
* Maintain accurate, timely case recording in line with GDPR and council policy
* Demonstrate detailed knowledge of the Care Act, MCA, MHA and Human Rights legislation
Essential Criteria
* Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration — essential
* Substantial post‑qualifying experience in Adults Social Care — essential
* Demonstrable experience at Senior Social Worker or experienced practitioner level
* Strong knowledge of adult safeguarding legislation and the Care Act 2014
* Experience of supervising and mentoring junior staff
* Strength based practice experience
* Enhanced DBS check required prior to commencement
* Full UK driving licence and business use car insurance
* Right to Work in the United Kingdom
