Salary: £74,000–£82,000 + Benefits
Our client is seeking a Capacity & Flexibility Manager to join their Future Power Systems team in Belfast. This is a unique opportunity to lead a team of analysts and engineers, ensuring the island’s energy system remains secure, flexible, and ready for a cleaner, low‑carbon future.
Responsibilities
* Lead a team responsible for assessing long‑term electricity supply and demand, ensuring system security and flexibility.
* Oversee technical analysis underpinning resource adequacy planning and future capacity requirements.
* Build team capability through coaching, skills development, and knowledge sharing.
* Act as a key contact for industry trends and influence strategic decision‑making.
* Represent the organisation at external forums, working groups, and industry events.
* Manage a portfolio of projects with responsibility for planning, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
Essential Criteria
* Degree in engineering, economics, mathematics, or a related technical/analytical field, plus 8+ years’ relevant experience.
* Strong knowledge of energy markets, resource adequacy, and system flexibility (interconnection, storage, techno‑economic modelling).
* Proven leadership experience, with the ability to coach and develop a high‑performing team.
* Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex topics to non‑technical audiences.
* Track record in delivering complex projects successfully.
* Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and collaborative skills.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience in the electricity, gas, or wider energy sector.
* Familiarity with all‑island energy policy and the Single Electricity Market.
* Engagement with regulators, policymakers, or external industry groups.
