This is an opportunity for a highly experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join the Diagnostics Laboratories team as Specialist Biomedical Scientist, working within accredited Medical Laboratories which provided a full range of clinical and diagnostic services to NHS Tayside, North-East Fife, South Grampian and specialist diagnostics and clinical services across all NHS Scotland Health Boards.
The Diagnostics Laboratories are based in Ninewells Hospital, a large Teaching hospital and Medical School in Dundee, and a multidisciplinary laboratory at Perth Royal Infirmary (PRI). The department is a UKAS accredited Medical Laboratory and holds IBMS Training and NES training approval. The laboratories at Ninewells and Perth both operate a 24/7 service every day of the year.
Responsibilities
* Demonstrate team spirit, initiative, and flexibility and have the enthusiasm to develop further and train others. You will be working in a multidisciplinary laboratory with Siemens ADVIA 2120i FBC analysers, ACL TOPS Coagulation analysers, Siemens Atellica Solution and Bio-Rad Blood Transfusion analysers.
Post and site
The post will be based at the Perth Royal Infirmary (PRI) site.
Qualifications and professional development
* You must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Have completed, or be working towards the IBMS Specialist Diploma in Haematology, Blood Transfusion or Biochemistry, or BBTS Specialist Certificate, or have equivalent prior experience.
* Candidates without the above qualifications will be paid a percentage of the maximum salary as a Trainee in accordance with Agenda for Change Annex 21 Paragraph 2 (ii).
Hours
Hours of work: 37.0 hours per week. Core working hours 09:00 – 17:00 Monday – Friday with additional out of hours working sessions.
