About
Yorkshire Water is offering a salary range from £25,785 to £32,739, depending on experience. A company van (Mobile Worker) is provided. There is an annual incentive related bonus (up to £1,000 for the performance year). An attractive pension scheme (currently up to 12% company contribution). Location: We have opportunities for Process Operators to join the Process team at Yorkshire Water and help us provide the best service to customers. Roles cover sites in and around the Ryedale areas within North Yorkshire. Applicants should live within a reasonable commuting distance to the areas above.
Work type
Permanent. You will work 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday within a 07:00 to 20:00 working window. Out of hours, weekend working and bank holidays will be part of a structured pattern. Once fully trained you will be assessed for working on your own and will join an out-of-hours standby rota including evenings, weekends and overnight callouts. Standby is planned and scheduled in advance so you have visibility of when you will be on call. In addition, you may be required to work some weekends, so flexibility outside core hours is essential.

Where you fit in
As a Process Operator you will work as part of an operational team to deliver exceptional performance against targets, maintain regulatory compliance, and drive customer confidence and satisfaction. You will undertake reactive and proactive site visits to ensure assets meet regulatory compliance and protect the environment while maintaining service for customers. You will take personal responsibility for health and safety, comply with Yorkshire Water Health and Safety policies, and undertake basic grounds maintenance, site tasks, site maintenance and general housekeeping duties.
Your Duties Will Include
* Reacting to RTS alarms and pollution incidents.
* Gathering evidence at suspected pollution incidents.
* Lifting, checking, and unblocking pumps.
* Taking samples, examining results, and troubleshooting issues affecting sample results.
* Raising follow-on work for internal support services.
What Skills, Experience And Training You Will Need
* Full training on mandatory courses will be provided; a company van, tools, equipment, Toughbook, mobile phone, sat nav and corporate clothing will be provided.
* Practical mindset and enjoy working outdoors in all weathers; hands-on approach to tasks.
* Ability to work alone and as part of a team in all weathers; resilient self-starter with good time management and workload management.
* Willingness to report unsafe working practices to management.
* Good problem-solving, decision-making, communication and positive attitude.
* Previous experience with IT systems such as Word; ability to capture site information on a Toughbook.
* Full valid UK driving licence required (no more than 6 points).
* Occasional work in confined spaces; completion of medical by Occupational Health and relevant training is essential. Must pass medical criteria including BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing and Spirometry tests.
