Overview
Positive weighing are looking for one additional (Trainee) Calibration Engineer to join our team. The starting wage is from £23k to £28k depending on experience, with pay reviews in line with the skills matrix and potential to increase significantly.
Location: Head Office, Malvern WR14 (Main place of work) and customer sites within the UK (Midlands). Travel to customer sites and on-site work will be required.
Responsibilities
* Travel to customer sites and carry out calibration and servicing on varying makes/models of weighing equipment, from small laboratory balances to weigh bridges or loadcell installations on tank farms.
* Install new goods, including programming configurable indicators or setting up relays, etc.
* Assist with in-house repairs.
* Assist in a full-time service contract on a rotational basis (currently 1 week in 4).
* Participate in projects for clients involving R&D work and prototypes.
* Be part of a rota to fulfil a full-time contract (details provided during the interview).
Skills & Capabilities
* Experience working with electronics is desirable; a healthy interest in electronics is useful.
* Sound knowledge of communications (RS232, Ethernet, Modbus, etc.) or the ability to learn.
* PC literate with competency in Word/Excel and other basic programs (essential).
* PLC programming experience is beneficial but not essential.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team on larger jobs.
* Good numeracy and literacy skills with a technology/manufacturing background.
Abilities & Additional Requirements
* Good administration, organisational skills, and ability to follow processes.
* Ability to use test equipment (multimeter), read technical manuals and schematics.
* Effective communication with customers.
* Capable of carrying equipment and handling test weights up to 20 kg.
* Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and eager to learn and achieve.
* Interest in or knowledge of metrology is a benefit.
Qualifications
* Full UK Driving Licence (required).
* Forklift Licence would be beneficial (training can be provided).
* Company van and company phone provided.
* All tools provided; PPE supplied or required.
