3-month role with a local authority Summary This 3-month role with a local authority involves providing safe, reliable, and courteous transport services for passengers using the Demand Response Transport system in the Bassetlaw area. The position plays a crucial role in supporting community mobility and ensuring timely and efficient travel for service users. Responsibilities Operate council fleet vehicles to transport passengers according to scheduled routes and demand response bookings. Ensure the safety and comfort of passengers, including vulnerable individuals. Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance needs. Maintain accurate records of journeys, mileage, and fuel usage. Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, including those with mobility challenges. Communicate effectively with the transport coordination team regarding route changes or delays. Uphold high standards of customer service and represent the council professionally. Adhere to all road safety regulations and council transport policies. Experience Previous experience in a driving role, preferably within passenger transport or community services. Experience working with vulnerable groups or in a customer-facing role is desirable. Qualification Valid UK driving licence with D1 and D1 (101) entitlement. Good geographical knowledge of the Bassetlaw area. Ability to work flexible hours, including alternate Saturdays. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to safeguarding and passenger welfare. Additional Information Working hours: 29 hours per week Driver required, Ollerton based, driving on our Demand Response Transport, 29 hours per week on average, including both morning and afternoon duties, five days over Monday - Saturday with Saturdays being one weekend in two.
