Job Description – Education/Activities Session Leader
Rate of pay £12.40 rising to £13.00 after probation
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, fun loving, self-motivated person to join our amazing team, making a positive difference to children's and young people's lives by delivering alternative education and fun activity sessions in our outdoor, animal-focussed rural setting near Melton Mowbray.
We work closely with schools, parents and local authorities to provide bespoke education programmes for each individual and have developed and excellent reputation for the quality of our provision and the outstanding outcomes for many of our students. We provide alternative education in term time and fun activity sessions in school holidays.
The role is a minimum of 30 hours a week, during term time. This will usually be across 5 days each week, with occasional evenings and 4-6 hours one day of the weekend, approximately every 4 weeks, required. Hours are usually available during most school holidays. (There may be the option to agree a 25 hour or zero hours contract for a 3 or 4 day per week role).
Full induction and extensive training will be given but you will need to be confident around animals, have a love for spending time outdoors, and, of course, have a passion for supporting children and young people. Experience with horses is beneficial but not essential. Most sessions are delivered on a 1:1 basis, so the ability to think and work flexibly, use initiative, creativity and fun, whilst being able to respond to the needs of the young person, are important.
There are good opportunities for professional development, including Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET), Forest school, Archery and Equine qualifications, as well as training in Animal Care and Green Woodworking. There is extensive training on neurodiversity, mental health and trauma.
New Leaf Triangle is a not-for-profit organisation providing outdoor, therapeutic activities for children and young people who have neurodiverse conditions, mental health needs, have experienced trauma or who have health conditions or disabilities. Some young people may exhibit behaviours that challenge.
Full background checks and references will be required for all successful applicants as part of our rigorous Safer Recruitment Policy.
For more information on New Leaf Triangle visit our website or our Facebook or Instagram pages.
