Role Overview
A motivated individual will join our Serious Crime Directorate (SCD) as a Review Officer. This key role involves reviewing and debriefing investigations across a range of serious crimes, including major crime, cold cases, and Public Protection investigations (particularly child death cases). The officer will conduct thematic reviews for the Force and other Forces, audit investigative processes, and identify further lines of enquiry or remedial actions.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out reviews and debriefs of major and serious crime investigations.
* Audit investigative processes and ensure compliance with national and local guidance and applicable legislation.
* Identify additional enquiry lines and remedial actions required.
* Produce high‑quality written reports.
Required Experience & Skills
* Recent extensive experience managing major or serious crime (PIP 3 or 4 accredited).
* Proven track record of successful crime investigation and up‑to‑date awareness of current legislation.
* Knowledge and experience leading Child/Adult Abuse Investigations or other public‑protection leadership.
* Experience leading covert operations is highly desirable.
* High level of interpersonal skills, an innovative and enquiring mindset, methodical, accurate, organised and detail‑oriented approach.
* Excellent communication skills, particularly in writing.
