Are you interested in joining our team of specialist renal nurses?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team of renal nurses. We are looking for an enthusiastic & highly motivated professional nurse to assist the dialysis unit managers in the co-ordination of our patients, requiring transfer between the acute dialysis unit and the dialysis satellite units.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years experience in Renal Nursing, strong communication and IT skills, and be able to liaise effectively within the team to ensure patients are dialysing in the unit nearest to their home.

You must have a genuine passion for ensuring our patients needs are met and be able to work flexibly and within the multi disciplinary team.


Main duties of the job

To be professionally accountable and maintain the standards of professional practice as set by theappropriate regulatory body applicable to your profession or role.

To deliver compassionate person-centred care, and treat patients, service users, their families and their carers with consideration, dignity and the respect you would want for yourself or your family.

To support and deputise for the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse in ensuring the standards ofprofessional practice as set out by appropriate regulatory body applicable to your profession or roleare maintained.

Utilise clinical proficiency in delivering a high standard of nursing care. Provide managerial andleadership skills to support the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse and nursing team to deliver continuallyimproved standards and efficient and effective use of resources.

Job responsibilities

To ensure safe and effective clinical practice

Ensure a high standard of safe clinical care and record keeping in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council, national legislation and local standards.

Take personal responsibility for actions and omissions, and fully recognise personal accountability.

Practice within an ethical framework based upon dignity and respect for the well-being and safety of patients and clients.

Work collaboratively with the Renal MDT to achieve and maintain national standards.

Work harmoniously and effectively with colleagues, patients and their carers, families and friends.

Participate in the development of the service, writing and reviewing policies and practices to ensure evidence based practice is implemented in line with national guidance.

To enhance the patients experience

To assess individuals holistically using a range of different assessment methods.

Incorporate health promotion and prevention into care planning, and comprehensively assess patients for risk factors.

Utilise making every contact count as an approach to change behavior through interactions with individuals, carers, families to support them in making positive changes to their physical and mental health and wellbeing.

To ensure effective contribution to the delivery of the organisation's objectives

Contribute to the development of an organisational culture thatsupports continuous learning and development, evidence-based practice and succession planning.

Support the appraisal process by ensuing that personal development plans are developed and that they are consistent with the teams and organisations objectives, succession planning and workforce development and support professional revalidation.

Network with peers across professional groups and clinical disciplines promoting the exchange of knowledge, skills and resources. Have high-level communication skills and contribute to wider development of practice by publicising and disseminating work through presentations at conferences and articles in the professional press.

Person Specification

* Current NMC registration
* Degree level education
* Experience in renal nursing
* Haemodialysis experience
* Evidence of professional updating in last 12 months, relevant to role
* Health Assessment course or willingness to undertake within two years.
* Non-medical prescribing course or willingness to undertake within two years
