An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit an enthusiastic Locum Consultant to join the Acute Medicine Department at University Hospitals of Derby & Burton NHS Foundation Trust. The post will be based at Queens Hospital, Burton on Trent.
This is a fixed term Consultant post for 2 years only to cover a career break.
The position offers flexible and sustainable job plans, including part‑time work or job plans split with other specialties.
Responsibilities
1. Management of patients on the Medical Admissions Unit and Medical Same Day Emergency Care Unit, including patients referred by their GP, the Emergency Department or other specialties. Provide Acute Medicine in‑reach to adult patients in the Emergency Department.
2. Responsibility for personal performance of clinical duties as agreed in the job plan, allowing for proper delegation, training of staff and supervision of junior doctors.
3. Provision of cover for Consultant colleagues during reasonable periods of leave, including care of patients and supervision of junior doctors.
4. Provide 24‑hour middle‑grade cover within the Department and facilitate proactive training, development and education, including simulation‑based training.
5. Interest in improving SDEC services and virtual ward, including Frailty services, will be encouraged.
