We manage up to 30,000 items of post during peak periods, and every item matters. That's why we're looking for a reliable, detail-focused Post Room Operative to join our growing team.
Role Purpose
To support the effective and accurate handling of all incoming and outgoing post in a high-volume environment. You'll be responsible for receiving, sorting, scanning, and processing mail items using both manual and automated systems, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance at every step.
Key Responsibilities
Post Room Operations - Operate within a mailing house setting, supporting the fulfilment of large-scale campaigns and scheduled dispatches.
* Receiving and Sorting Mail - Accurately receive, count, and sort incoming post and packages, ensuring all items are recorded and directed to the correct department or team.
* Use of Equipment and Software - Operate postal machinery including folder/inserters, and scanners. Use internal systems and postal software to track and log items.
* Scanning documents - Digitally scan and accurately sort documents, ensuring secure handling of personal and sensitive information.
* Quality Control - Maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail, conducting regular checks and reconciling discrepancies.
* Stock Control - Monitor levels of mailroom supplies (e.g., envelopes, packaging materials), raising replenishment requests as needed.
* Health & Safety and Compliance - Work in accordance with Elovate's health & safety guidelines and ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality requirements.
* Team Collaboration - Work closely with colleagues across the Fulfilment and Customer Service teams to meet strict deadlines, especially during high-volume periods. This may include additional tasks such as supporting with banking, data processing and validating documents
Skills and Experiences required:
* Experience in a post room, mailing house, or similar fulfilment environment is preferred
* Confident using post-handling machinery and scanning systems
* Excellent attention to detail and high accuracy levels
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume setting
* Good IT literacy and ability to learn bespoke software
* Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks under pressure
* A proactive, dependable team player with a positive attitude
* Physical ability to lift and move mailbags and boxes as part of daily duties
