Electronics Technician / Technician Engineer – Central Scotland (Hybrid)
Contract | Outside IR35 | 6-Month Initial Term
I’m working with a global technology and engineering organisation that’s expanding its UK hardware team and now hiring a hands-on Electronics Technician to support day-to-day development, prototyping, and test activities.
This is a practical, lab-focused role working alongside experienced engineers on real hardware used by financial institutions and retailers worldwide.
The Opportunity
You’ll play a key part in supporting electronic and electrical builds, assembling harnesses, wiring/debug work, soldering (including SMT), and running structured test activities. If you enjoy being hands-on, problem-solving, and working closely with engineers across multiple projects, this is an excellent fit.
This is a contract role, operating Outside IR35, with a 6-month initial term and strong potential to extend.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Building cable harnesses and assembling prototype hardware
* Soldering (SMT) and performing rework/repairs
* Wiring, fault finding and debugging electronic assemblies
* Setting up and running electronic/electrical tests
* Supporting electronic circuit prototyping
* Using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, etc.)
* Preparing test documentation and clear reports
* Supporting engineers across ongoing development projects
What They’re Looking For
* HND/HNC in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
* 2–3 years' experience in an electronics/electrical technician role
* Strong practical, hands-on electronics skills
* Confident with soldering, wiring, and prototype build work
* Comfortable in a lab/test environment
* Ability to follow procedures and document results clearly
Nice to Have
* Schematic entry experience
* LabVIEW
* Arduino / microcontroller familiarity
* Creo (for harness drawings)
