An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the busy Acute Medical Unit team as a Health Care Assistant on the Acute Medical Unit (AMU Tavy). AMU Tavy is part of the new emergency village and it is an acute unit for patients needing admission from the emergency department and the Medical Receiving Unit. The successful applicant will be expected to act as a positive role model, deliver high quality nursing care and be keen to broaden their own knowledge and skills within the specialist field of acute medicine. Acute medicine is an exciting and continually developing area with fantastic opportunities. AMU Tavy has lots of education and training opportunities. You will need to be flexible and committed to making a positive difference with a willingness to undertake further training.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

To carry out a range of (limited) clinical duties with minimal / no supervision, including for example, blood pressure monitoring, oxygen saturation levels, body temperature, pulse rate and respiration rate, glucose monitoring, collection and testing of urine samples / faecal samples / sputum samples and wound swabs ensuring delivery of high-quality patient care at all times. Practice safe standards of care to patients following Trust guidelines and policies and be able to concentrate for periods throughout the day with occasional interruptions.

Promote health education specific to the clinical area and in line with national and local policies.
