What you will be doing
as an Engineering Project Manager
Internal title: Project Engineer within the Capital Maintenance Project Team
You will:
1. Manage and deliver a portfolio of Mechanical, Electrical and ICA projects, with typical values of £15,000–£100,000 per project.
2. Lead multiple live projects at once while progressing additional projects through scoping and tendering.
3. Work with innovative and modern solutions to support site efficiency and deliver value for money for customers.
4. Collaborate closely with operational colleagues and contractors to scope, define and cost safe, practical and cost‑effective solutions.
5. Uphold our zero‑compromise approach to health and safety, including monthly audits.
6. Oversee construction activities in accordance with Thames Water policies, industry standards and CDM regulations.
7. Partner with delivery teams and contractors to ensure projects are completed on time.
8. Maintain compliance with Asset Standards, British & International Standards and professional codes of conduct.
9. Complete financial forecasting and report on the value of work done (VOWD).
10. Prepare, review and approve project documentation including PCI, programmes, RAMS and CPPs.
11. Oversee commissioning, training and handover of completed projects to operational teams.
12. Ensure all completion documents (e.g., test certificates, O&M manuals, H&S files and as‑constructed drawings) are delivered and recorded.
Location
Your base location will be Earlswood Sewage Treatment Works and will be on-site up to 5 days a week.
This role requires travel to multiple sites, depending on your project portfolio. A full driving licence is required.
What you should bring to the role
We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds. You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
13. A background in Engineering, such as Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering.
Formal qualifications (e.g., BTEC/HND) are encouraged, but relevant experience is equally valued.
14. Alternatively, knowledge of clean water processing or wastewater treatment.
15. Confidence coordinating with multiple stakeholders, including colleagues, site teams and contractors.
16. The ability to work independently when needed, while contributing positively to a supportive team culture.
17. An understanding of health and safety standards, especially relating to construction and CDM (training will be provided).
18. Experience in construction or engineering project management.
