School Crossing Patrol Officer - Kings Ford County Infant and Junior, Colchester
Permanent, Part Time
£13.00 per hour
Location: Colchester
Working Style: Operational field-based worker
Support your local community by joining Essex County Council's School Crossing Patrol Team at Kings Ford County Infant & Junior School, Gloucester Avenue, Colchester.
This role involves supporting children during morning and afternoon school crossings, ensuring pedestrian safety around the school area.
We seek punctual, reliable, approachable individuals who enjoy engaging with the public.
This position is approximately 7.5 hours per week, with holiday pay included. You will work during the 39-week academic year, for about 45 minutes in the morning (08:00 - 09:00) and afternoon (14:45 - 15:45), depending on site needs. Uniform, equipment, and training are provided.
Responsibilities include:
* Considering the needs of disabled and mobility-impaired pedestrians.
* Maintaining contact with the schools served by the crossing.
* Assessing risks at the crossing site and reporting issues.
* Assisting in accident and incident reporting.
* Maintaining and requesting replacements for uniform and equipment.
* Signaling to drivers to stop traffic and ensuring pedestrians cross safely.
