Detention Custody Officer - Heathrow Immigration Removal Centre
£32,848.40 per annum
40 hours per week (shift work covering days and nights)

The Role
Our DCOs work with extraordinary courage and resilience, keeping those in our care safe and secure. You will be joining a team whose job security is high based on delivering essential public services through this critical role.
Working as a DCO provides the opportunity to maintain high standards of security and safety whilst promoting the welfare and decency of residents at the immigration removal centre. This is a fast‑paced environment where no two days are the same. As you gain experience, we support you to grow and develop.
Responsibilities & Working Conditions
* Shift work covering days and nights; flexibility needed for a mixture of short and long dayshifts.
* The centre operates 24/7/365; your rolling roster will cover 51 weeks, helping you plan your work/life balance.
* You must be eligible to obtain CTC clearance (valid UK passport, EU passport with Share Code, ILR from a Commonwealth country, have lived/worked in the UK for 3 years with no extended overseas trips, no criminal convictions or ongoing police investigations).
Who we’re looking for
People skills, patience, resilience, professionalism, and the ability to handle an ever‑changing day. Experience of sensitively dealing with agitated, confused or angry people is an advantage.
Training & Assessment
Initial Training Course (ITC) – 5 weeks, paid, starting the first day of employment. Assessments (face‑to‑face assessment centres) will run throughout 2025, subject to selection and vetting.
