Machine Lay Supervisor Location: Based in Ipswich – Projects Across Essex, Cambridge & Suffolk Salary: £46,000 – £51,000 DOE Van Overtime Paid Full Days Hours: 7am–5pm Monday - Friday About the Company We're a growing, family-oriented civil engineering and highways maintenance company with active contracts across Cambridge, Essex, and Suffolk. The Work You'll Lead Projects typically include: * Pre-surface dressing * Patching works * Full inlay schemes * Mid-sized surfacing works (up to £750k) as part of kerb and crossing improvements * You’ll be overseeing a crew of around 8 subcontractors and managing block operations of up to 60–70 people. This is not a desk job — we want someone who thrives on-site, takes ownership, and ensures works are delivered safely and to an exceptional standard. Key Responsibilities * Plan daily works, traffic management, and crew coordination * Maintain surfacing quality and safety throughout projects * Directly liaise with clients and adjust to on-site needs * Oversee road closures and ensure correct TM implementation * Lead and manage subcontract teams and ensure compliance with safety and programme requirements Essential Requirements * You're someone with a background in highways surfacing, ideally from a Tier 1 or 2 contractor * If you’ve made your way through the ranks and learned from past experiences, we’re open to strong candidates with growth potential — if you've had solid time with reputable firms * Triple SSSTS - essential * Street Works Supervisor - essential * CSCS Card (any colour) - essential * Network Rail Sentinel (nice to have) Package & Benefits * Salary: £46,000 – £51,000 DOE * Hours: 7am–5pm Monday - Friday * Van: Company vehicle provided * Overtime: Optional and well-compensated * Saturday: Time ¼ * Sunday: Time ½ * Holidays: 28 days * Paid for all working hours Ready to Apply?
